Welcome to Gerrans School
Take a look around to see what we've been up to lately.
Welcome to Gerrans School and thank you for taking the time to visit our Website.
Gerrans is a small school with an emphasis on a strong community feel. We celebrate and capitalize on all the positive aspects of a small school.
Located on The Roseland Peninsula we try to use our beautiful local surroundings to enhance our curriculum as much as possible, whilst establishing links and opportunities to explore and understand the wider and different world.
We aim to encourage every individual to become an active, confident learner prepared to take risks and learn from mistakes.
My colleagues and I are extremely proud of our School and the cheerful, happy atmosphere that exists.
We are also proud to be part of The Roseland Trust and work closely alongside staff and pupils from Tregony Primary, The Roseland Academy, Treviglas Academy and Falmouth School.
Due to an increase in number the school has this September restructured from two to three classes.
Children learn in the following groupings;
Tatams - Nursery and Reception . Taught by Mrs Rushe and assisted by Mrs Grant
Towan- Year 1/ Year 2/ Year 3. Taught by Mrs Haines
Porthcurnick - Year 4/ Year 5/ Year 6. Taught by Mr Steward ( Wednesday and Thursday ) and Mrs Elvy ( Monday, Tuesday and Friday)
Mrs Coley supports learning across the school.
Currently there are 68 pupils on roll.
We are very lucky to have extensive outside spaces which we use to support learning as well as physical and social development. Over the last couple of years our end of year production and Nativity plays have been performed outside within the school grounds, even with a donkey and sheep from our local community.
Visitors to our school remark on the friendly polite children whom show respect for one another and adults. But don't take our word for it come and visit and "feel" our school atmosphere and see why we all think this is a very special place to learn, grow and share. I look forward to welcoming you.
